Preserve your Bouquet...

Some like to toss it while some like to keep it for memories...It's your day ! A good idea of how to make your bouquet memorable is by framing it, but for fresh flowers it goes through a process to preserve it before framing ...
You can also add your hair facinator inside ,your gloves ,invitation, husband's bow tie .just come up with creative ideas ,put them u together and frame ....

The Aisle..

Most times we often forget the church Decoration ,but the church  is as important as your reception because that's where the main solemnization takes place so it shouldn't be left out..
I have got great ideas for you today ....

Having a wedding on a LOW BUDGET....

I have planned and attended weddings in Nigeria and wonder the millions spent and then you the guest probably about to get married starts wondering how on earth can my dream wedding come on a low budget.
My dear it's not a crime to save a little while planning for that big day.....Will be giving you few tips on how to slash that cost...
                 How to slash  cost
  • Venue: It's your wedding you shouldn't have it on the island because your friends live there and then you have to be the one to part with so much money on the venue.
  • Decoration: A known name does not really determine a fantastic job ,you can have a good decorator tell them your ideas, keep it simple and make sure you see their past jobs and imbibe your ideas.like you can get away with white spandex chair cover instead of a themed (coloured ) chair cover , ask for artificial flowers instead of fresh flowers.
  • Catering: there shouldn't be too many on the menu list, the regular should be served forget about Chinese cuisine for the Chinese people. Must you have small chops and barbeque ?
  • Cake:The more preservative added to a cake for it to last longer ,the more expensive. some people want the smallest cake to last till their first anniversary ..Hahaha! just have a regular cake but designed in a spectacular and simple way for your wedding ...
  • Drinks:In Nigeria bottled drinks will save a whole lot unlike the canned drinks that can be tossed into bags(shhh) I didn't say so.then you can have water and then spend a reasonable amount on non-alcoholic wine or juice for the toast.
  • Photographer/Video: get a reasonable one and ask for the edited and original soft copy ,so if you wish you can edit with someone else later and put into a photo book but not just now ..
  • Wedding gown : why Buy when you can rent ...Yes RENT!!  For shoes go to regular shops looking for white shoes not necessarily a bridal shop or be creative and go for a coloured shoe....for your bridal  train get ready made of the rack dresses they shouldn't always look bridal and they can wear them even after the wedding, they would appreciate a bride that doesn't put them through so much hassle of investing in outfits they might never wear afterwards . For Makeup have your lashes done before the day, buy your makeup kit and keep practicing how to look beautiful (D.I.Y) after the wedding won't you still need to look gorgeous after your wedding .For hair it's either you get it fixed and rapped in the salon a day before or you just let it down on your day..
  • Music: a D.J can do the magic for less instead of a live band.
  • Car Hire : inconvenience a friend or a relative to give you theirs if they have two (2) cars ,it's your day they won't say no and if they do ask someone else or just wash yours and use it .Save some money .
  • Rings: you certainly can't rent so it's either you go for a gold plated and buy the real deal later or you go for9ct gold that doesn't weigh that much.
  • Date on a week day: it may sound silly but you can do this to also control your crowd ....
I hope I have been able to help someone save some cash ,there is life after the wedding day in as much as wedding is just once in a life time....what's your take?

Playing around with pink ...

  • Bringing you the pink themed wedding ..Pink has a way of giving peace and calm to the atmosphere...It has a way of saying everything is alright .Pink is the color of universal love. Pink is a quiet color. Lovers of beauty favor pink.. It can also be combined with black, white ,mint green ,blue, coffee brown, grey and lots more..
  • You have a list of things to reflect your colour into like your cake, Hair facinator for your bridal party, the flower girls basket and the ring pillow ,table setting and hall decoration and much more .

I caught the bouquet! so what??

.              I attended a friend's wedding in  July 2011 and then it got to the time to toss the bouquet I removed my shoes and went for it though short, I jumped so high and caught the lovely bouquet I told myself this is my time ...afterwards one of the M.Cs of the ceremony, laugh up told me to call him for my wedding the next year ,so sorry laugh up I contacted you but your price drooooove me *winks*..
Ehn back to my story.  When I caught the bouquet I said to my self ,''Chei Boma ,after organizing weddings for people for years you can actual have yours ''lol! well, to you reading  it's no big deal but my dear I have tried to catch the bouquet for years to no avail because I have faith in it   ..
I got home and put the bouquet that was bent from the struggle into a vase and announced on bb (blackberry)  about my experience that day..
Many will say it is superstitious but I would say it's FAITH ,'' the assurance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen'' ...I tapped into it as a blessing and my bobo of few months proposed and the next year I was my own bride....
Afterwards I told friends that there is a magic in catching the bouquet and of-course having Faith too and then I decided not to take certain celebrations for granted  naming ceremonies ,bridal showers  ,house dedications , cars ,graduations e.t.c I try to rejoice and show love to the celebrants believing mine is just at the corner...
   Have a great weekend guys...!!

Love yourself!!

The Greatest gift of all is LOVE...When last did you show someone love even yourself ? We  are too busy with the challenges of the day ,we are too busy thinking of what others  think and feel about us ,busy with malice ,busy having one grudge or the other and forgetting life is too short to get tangled doing all these.
WAYS TO LOVE YOURSELF:
  • Forgive yourself of your past and forge ahead because you really can't it.
  • Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.
  • Never think that you are the worst in the world. Just thank God and give good comments to yourself.
  •  Accept progression at any pace. Don't rush yourself to become something too quickly, and don't lose patience with yourself ,There's no need to stress over time, because you have your whole life.
  •  Remind yourself that you are worth loving. Many people tend to get insecure about themselves, when in all reality we are all human beings!
  •  Always believe in yourself, and be the confident , optimistic you
  • .Stop comparing yourself to others..
  •   Do what you love , don't be caught in a profession or hubby you seriously regret .
  •  Don't define yourself by what you've done..
  • Sing your praises...

Head gear tutorial done by the late Nike Ogungbe of Ewar makeovers...Dear Lord!!

R.I.P Nike Ogunbge of Ewar Makeovers

Nike Ogungbe
  •    I just heard of Nike's death due to complications during child birth ..I was dazed!! ..I said to myself just like that ,how possible ? asking my self why? again like death is an impossible thing .It could have been anyone else and then suddenly I had goose bumps  ..
  • I still wrote about her few months ago...Nike was a makeup artist I admired so much because her work speaks for it self  and she worked so hard each day to stand out ,she also gave her bit to the society by empowering people who were passionate about getting into the makeup business ...I met her once at a friend's wedding she did the makeup and I made the bride's accessories back in Aug 2009...
  • Heard her lost her  first baby to still birth and the second baby died after 2 years so this was her third try also heard she didn't wake from the anesthetic med given to her and I said to myself, ''who sleeps during a C-section? ...Well,God knows best!
  •  Bless your soul Nike! rest well, you will be dearly missed....

Kelvin Okafor says ,''I have always been creative''.

The Middlesex University Fine Art graduate spends around 80-100 hours to complete his amazing pencil drawings over approximately three weeks in the studio.  The genre is known as ‘photo-realism’ and Kelvin creates his detailed work based on a mixture of life and photographs. The highly skilled 27-year old has already had more than 50 commissions and is generating a buzz at galleries he exhibits at and online .              The Tottenham based artist said: “I’ve always been creative, but fell in love with using pencils in particular.  It was only when my images started to create a buzz with other Middlesex University students that I realised their impact.”
Before even starting a piece, Kelvin spends a few days analysing a photo, concentrating firstly on the subject’s eyes as he shapes the portrait through them due to their importance to the piece.  Starting from £5,000, each of his pieces of work sells for on average £8,000-£10,000 dependent on the scale.

“The attention I’m receiving is surreal and hasn’t really sunk in yet.  I’m usually sheltered from it in my studio as I continue to build my portfolio, but I’m really humbled and honoured that so many people appreciate my work.  I hope to have my own gallery in the future,” added Kelvin.  I watched this amazing artist on T.V and just thought to share he is really amazing!! entertain yourself with his step by step sketch below.
